Thank you again to those who joined me for A Valley Girl Dilemma book launch. Having you there made it fun, and you guys ask great questions! Q&A was the most enjoyable part of the evening for me. I feel we were missing a lot of neon and tights, though.
Did anyone get their cassette to play? Does anyone still have a cassette player? Party on, dudes.
It was a fun weekend at PopConYXE! I talked to so many people, met other creatives, saw cool costumes, and had long conversations about books, writing, and nerdy stuff. I shared table space with:
· The potato crew of Spud Publishing which just released its second anthology of Canadian short stories: Sequel.
· Janelle Filteau, author of the Egyptian Heir series, an upper young adult tale of fantasy, adventure, and thrills.
· Donovan Thiessen, mastermind behind the Saskatchewan Screams horror anthology as well as author of Dead Faeries. Find him on Facebook.
Our lovely neighbour with whom we shared conversation and treats was Beth Wagner, illustrator, comic creator, and writer.
As if that wasn’t enough fun, everyone is invited to the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild Apprentice Readings on Friday, May 8, at Saskatoon Parktown Hotel (924 Spadina Cres E) at 7:30 p.m. Along with readings from the other four apprentices in the 2026 mentorship program, I’ll read from my forthcoming novel Hideaway which I’ve been polishing with help from my mentor. RSVP online or let me know you can come.
Thanks for being with me on this journey!
Monica
